Series: Time Value of Money

Liquid Gold

Water = Money · Freezer = Investment · Evaporation = Inflation

Session: 10–15 min

The idea

Liquid Gold makes Time Value of Money feel physical. Water stands in for capital: leave it in the sun and evaporation takes it away (inflation and idle loss); freeze it and condensation returns more over time (compound growth). Players race a backyard party deadline — collecting, investing, and spending — without a single coin or percentage on screen. Only after play does the Metaphor Mapping screen reveal the finance underneath.

Inside the game

Liquid Gold — Upgrade shop — plan before you play

Upgrade shop — plan before you play

The upgrade shop splits choices into income, storage, investment, and automation — each card a trade-off with a real cost in liters. Players spend their liquid budget deliberately before starting the next day, feeling opportunity cost long before the vocabulary appears.

Liquid Gold — End-of-day summary

End-of-day summary

When the day ends, a full water balance sheet shows pool, cooler, and frozen reserves alongside evaporation and condensation earned. FinAI Coach reads the result and suggests what to try tomorrow — turning numbers into narrative feedback.

Liquid Gold — Freezer lab

Freezer lab

The freezer room makes compound growth tangible: water moves from pool to cooler to frozen chambers, each with different risk and return. Players manage the full cycle in a stylized lab while timers and totals update live.

Liquid Gold — Oasis gameplay

Oasis gameplay

The backyard oasis ties every decision to a place you can see — wheel, pool, cooler, and well under a desert sun. Meters track pool, cooler, and frozen water with zero coins or percentages on screen during play.
